A Process Engineer is required to join a well-established, Tier 1 automotive firm. As a Process Engineer , your main responsibility will be to support the introduction of new processes into the press shop and to continuously improve current processes through robust and objective engineering and/or problem solving.

Reporting directly to the Press Shop Manager, your main duties and responsibilities will include the following:

- Material reduction

- Identify and schedule improvement opportunities regarding SMED development

- Identify opportunities regarding the improvement of new/current plant tools to support the reduction of rework in plant, driving through improvement actions

- Support introduction of new tooling into plant/production including procurement and development

- Review and support component feasibility with regards to tooling processes

- Support 'A' layout review

- Support tooling design reviews from a plant perspective

- Supporting tooling buy off activity

- Support engineering changes to die tooling

- Identify opportunities regarding the improvement of new/ current plant tools to support SMED activity, driving through improvement actions

- Check/improve run at rate

- Reduce downtime with improvements to equipment

To be successful in the role of Process Engineer , you will need to possess the following skills/knowledge/experience:

- HNC but ideally qualified in an engineering discipline

- Experience in a metal pressing or automotive environment

- Computer literate with working knowledge of all relevant software packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project

- Ability to plan and manage resources to achieve objectives and priorities despite conflicting agendas and multiple deliveries

- Must be committed to ensuring Health & Safety

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Flexible and adaptable with a positive attitude towards change

- Ability to lead and motivate a team

- Be proactively responsible for their own department without reliance on others

- Strong planning, organisational and problem skills

- Able to work autonomously

- Ability to develop and successfully achieve project timing requirements

This position is based in Cannock and is easily commutable from Birmingham, Stafford, Lichfield, Walsall, Tamworth, Sutton Coldfield, Wolverhampton, Telford and Burton upon Trent. This position is permanent and full time, working 38 hours a week. You will receive a competitive salary plus company benefits.
