Interim Project Engineer - Aerospace


Our client is a global Aerospace, design, development, manufacturer – currently seeking an Interim Project Engineer with an excellent understanding and career within development of mechanical systems.

Purpose of the Job

To manage fuel hydraulic and air systems projects from initial customer requirements/technical specifications through development and type testing for certification to a fully productionised component/system that comply with the extensive and appropriate CAA, FAA, MOD and FAR technical requirements.

Responsible For

·Project Spend on NPI projects, against budget, including internal and external test house costs.

Main Duties / Responsibilities

·Co-ordinating and managing all aspects (including risks) of major and minor projects from development through to the initial production stages to ensure the agreed technical requirements are delivered within time scales and budget to achieve the optimum solution, with progression to leading several more technically challenging projects simultaneously.

·Interpreting the technical requirements of customer specifications, preparing compliance and DDP documentation.

·Providing technical documentation and support for new proposals, bids and RFQs. as required.

·Preparation and compilation of technical documentation for design reviews. Co-ordinating and leading design reviews by making technical presentations and decisions on behalf of the company

·Compilation of documentation and evidence for programme gate reviews.

·Preparing and maintaining agreed test procedures. Witnessing and supervising development and/or qualification test programmes.

·Leading and/or participating in teardown inspection and root cause investigations as required.

·Interpretation of derived test data and preparing test reports for submittal to the customer and/or relevant aviation authority.

·Creating and continuously maintaining a detailed and fully resourced project schedule to the predefined format.

·Creating weekly programme status updates for management with metrics on achieved tasks and key project milestones.

·Attending, participating in and deputising at DLA meetings, providing updates and escalating items as necessary.

·Continuously maintaining and updating the resource requirements “Shopping List”.

·Assisting in the preparation off cost estimates and CERs for projects. Maintaining the PMM and monitor/managing spend against these documents.
