Learning Support Assistant 1:1 SEN

Have you recently graduated from university and are now looking for a learning support assistant role where you will be supporting a child in a one to one SEN role?

Perhaps you have previous experience working with children who have autism or another special educational need, and you would like to use this previous experience to support a primary aged learner in a one to one support role this academic year?

The Role:

As a learning support assistant at this wonderful two-form entry primary school based centrally in Birmingham you will be working one to one with a child who has special educational needs. Previous experience of working with children or young people with SEN is beneficial in your application, so too is having a high level of academic ability as shown in your degree and A Levels.

You will be using specific strategies and resources to help the child whom you support to overcome the barriers to learning they face. You will use a range of strategies and resources such as social stories, Makaton and PECs. You will be given some foundation training in order to fully prepare you for the role.

As a learning support assistant you must be a good communicator both verbal and written as you will be expected to confidently and accurately liaise with a number of key people including the child's parents, outside agencies and colleagues. You will work collaboratively with these people to set appropriate targets for the individual child and review the targets each term in collaboration with the class teacher and child's parents.
