Our award winning client is looking to recruit a succesful problem solver with excellent planning and communication skills to fulfil the role of Assistant production Manger.

You need to be able to engage and motivate staff, improve current standards, have previous management experience of 10 and above team members, SAP or similar systems ad WMS systems.

To assist the Production Manager in ensuring the effective and efficient planning, coordination and control of the manufacturing process ensuring all products are manufactured to agreed specification and costs. Promote and ensure a safe working environment and contribute to H&S requirements across the department. Promote and develop 5's standards across all production areas. Promote & encourage continuous improvement and run Kaizen workshops across production areas. Continually work with the Production Manager on a strategy to improve the department in all areas and develop a best practice ethos throughout the department. Cover all requirements of the Production Manager role when the Production Manager is on annual leave.

Specific roles / responsibilities:

  • Ensuring a safe, clean and environmentally compliant work environment and building a culture where safety is the first priority.

  • To assist in the planning of manning within the Production Dept to ensure that holidays, training, absence and peaks in demand are adequately covered to ensure stock levels are maintained.

  • Overseeing issuing of Production Plans / Works Orders for production lines

  • Ensuring that Order of Manufacturing meets quality / testing requirements

  • Overseeing issue of Silo Log for timely delivery of bulk raw materials

  • Issuing of Barrel Production Schedule in response to Export requirements

  • Monitor and challenge short-falls in expected output on Production lines

  • Identify areas for improvement and implement relevant new procedures regarding 5S standards, OEE and production processes

  • Monitor 5S standards throughout the department via daily checks and weekly audits

  • Day to day management of Production Ops including motivation, training, mentoring, personal development

  • Completion of Appraisals, RTWs, Holiday Forms, Weekly Wages as and when required

  • To liase with Sales regarding scheduling of Made to Order products

  • To liase with Stock Control regarding delivery of raw materials and packaging

  • To liase with R & D regarding completion of production trials

  • To liase with Transport / Warehouse regarding availability of stock

  • To liase with Quality regarding non-conforming products / submission of samples

  • Accurate adjustment of formulations / mixes on all production plant

  • Adjustment of BOMs on SAP to reflect accurate material usage

  • Adjustment of Willetts Database to reflect accurate product data on pallet labels and product

  • Attending weekly Production Meetings

  • Attending PPS Meetings with view to introducing countermeasures for processes with scope for improvement

  • Training and developing employees to safely perform their jobs and meet the needs of the buisness

  • Leading and supporting safety initiatives and processes to drive towards zero recordable injuries

  • Ensuring operational procedures exist and are followed and product specifications & quality metrics are met.

  • Keep staff motivated within their roles and engaged within the company

  • Performance manage the team ensuring recognition for good work is as evident as discussions regarding poor performance. Comply with Disciplinary legislation and in-house processes.

  • Act as a positive role model, supervise, coach, lead and inspire those you work with.

  • Assist and work with other Manager's for the good of the business.

  • Track, maintain and report on KPI's associated with the Production Department. Analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements where needed.

  • Challenge what we do and innovate.
