Hampton’s Children in Care Division are currently working in with a private residential care provider based in Staffordshire, to help facilitate their recruitment of a Permanent Deputy Manager for their Children’s Residential Home.

Main duties include:

  • Delivering excellent, appropriate care to the children and young people living in the home.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people
  • Day to day management and guidance of team members
  • Delivering internal placement plans and ensuring that care plans are in place and understood by all
  • Maintaining useful and effective daily routines for residents of the children's homes
  • Contributing to and delivering policies and procedures
  • Ensuring meetings take place on time and to meet the requirements of the home including chairing on occasion
  • Disseminating good practice through leadership and example setting
  • Ensure that all staff are clear with regards to intervention strategies for the young people in the home
  • Contribute to and lead on providing an atmosphere of non-discriminatory practice
  • Lead on key working and individual work with children
  • Ensure that all administrative requirements of the home are maintained in such a way that they are compliant with good childcare practice, homes procedures, Company policies and Children's Regulations.
  • Lead on and contribute to activities that enhance opportunities for the well-being and education of young people

Key Skills and Requirements:

  • Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England) is essential
  • Strong values which promote confidentiality, diversity, dignity and respect and the ability to promote equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice
  • Ability to understand regulatory requirements and deliver care in accordance
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as the experience to lead
  • Experience of conducting staff supervisions and appraisals
  • Experience of undertaking reviews, children's internal and external care plans
  • Be able to demonstrate flexibility to meet the requirements of a demanding care environment
  • Experience of being on call and the ability to advise staff when not in the home
  • Knowledge and understanding of residential child care challenges and managing behavioural difficulties

Salary – up to £25,500
