Head of Used Equipment & Short Term Rentals - Midlands
Brand new - main board position
Salary 65k + executive car & executive package

The Head of Used Equipment & Short Term Rentals will lead the Used Equipment & Short Term Rentals business stream and drive sustainable growth and profitability in line with overall business strategy and agreed budgets. The scope of the role includes the management of all truck assets to achieve optimal value to the business. This is a board level position and the role holder will work closely with and act as a business partner to other members of the senior management team to support delivery of the overall objectives of the business.
To work closely with the General Manager one of their second tier brand to ensure the optimal use and disposal of used and STR assets across both companies.
Organising and leading the Used & STR business stream
Developing and implementing plans and budgets to achieve optimal, sustainable growth and profitability from the business stream
Delivering against agreed sales and profit targets
Ensuring active, orderly and commercially sound asset management including:
Proactively managing the size and profile of the Used & STR fleet
Managing Used Equipment disposal activity including End User sales, trade packages and Scrap to secure optimal value
Assessing the viability of, planning and controlling refurbishment work associated with both Used & STR assets
Driving optimal utilisation within the STR fleet
Supporting the Sales Director in managing the Demo fleet
Establishing robust and effective processes and procedures
Developing market awareness and promoting growth in Used & STR
Managing and developing staff and team capability and performance, ensuring that appraisals are carried out and training & development needs identified and fulfilled
Contributing towards the overall leadership of the business by engaging positively and supportively with colleagues in other business streams and putting the overall success of the business ahead of any departmental priorities
Establishing within the business stream a positive, supportive and professional working culture with a focus on continuous improvement and excellent customer service
Establishing a culture of safety throughout the business stream
Monitoring and reporting departmental performance and taking appropriate recovery actions where required.
Ensuring full adherence to Company policy on Health & Safety as well as other Company policies and procedures including the company Code of Compliance.
You will be commercially astute, with good level of financial understanding; ability to develop and present a coherent business case with financial justification
Good understanding and experience of managing Used Equipment asset management including both inbound and disposal processes
Good understanding and experience of STR management, including fleet profile and fleet utilisation
Background which provides ability to manage operational aspects of Workshop and Transport
Experience of managing, leading and developing individuals and teams
Action oriented, able to develop and manage the delivery of structured action plans to address complex issues
Highly effective and assertive communicator, able to motivate staff and build strong working relationships both internally and externally
Excellent organisational skills
Team oriented plus individual drive and determination
