Community Flood Resilience Officer

15 hours per week part-time

Grade 6 GBP23,398 pro-rata

The Staffordshire Civil Contingencies Unit (CCU) supports strategic partner organisations across Staffordshire in preparing for, and responding to Emergencies as defined under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. In addition, we deliver a range of planning and advisory functions, all of which are aimed at helping to build the overall resilience of Staffordshire.

The CCU has a unique and exciting opportunity for a Community Flood Resilience Officer for a fixed term of nine months with a potential for the term to be extended to a maximum of 12 months. Although the successful applicant will be based in Stafford working closely with stakeholders, they will work occasionally in other locations predominantly in Burton, Tamworth and Fazeley.

The work will be as follows:
  • Project management. To deliver and implement a community flood project in Burton-on-Trent, Tamworth and Fazeley in order to further build community flood resilience in those areas.
  • Campaign management: To coordinate the production and delivery of community flood resilience campaigns in those target areas.

The person we are looking for will be able to demonstrate their ability as a highly motivated self-starter to consult, engage and work closely with identified stakeholders in order to effectively deliver the flood resilience project against agreed milestones within agreed timescales. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to effectively manage and coordinate campaigns in order to raise awareness with the target audience.

The vacancy is also available as a secondment opportunity from any Category 1 or 2 Responder providing your host organisation is prepared to release you for an unbroken nine to twelve month period for 15 hours per week. (In the event of a secondment, the CCU will be able to cover 15 hours of your salary costs for the duration of the secondment up to a maximum of GBP23,398 pro rata.
