We are currently recruiting on a permanent staff basis for a Health & Safety Officer to be based in Rubery, Worcestershire. The successful candidate will need to have relevant experience working in a construction / M&E environment.

Reporting to Senior Contracts Manager on management and site issues. Liaison with SHEQ Team on a day to day basis

This role wis based within the head office in Rubery with travel to site as required, is responsible for all aspects of H&S management matters and promoting H&S compatibility with clients, partners and subcontractors.

Principal Duties:
To promote an active H&S culture and safe practice, enforcing safety guidelines as necessary.
To liaise with head office staff, clients, partners, contractors/sub-contractors and relevant outside agencies with regard to H&S matters as required.
If the project has a Safety Council, to be an active participant of the Safety Council and to lead efforts to enhance safety at the site.
To advise staff with regard to health and safety matters and to respond to any employee safety concerns that may be raised
To complete, maintain and submit/report on all relevant health and safety documentation as required, including site audits, risk assessments, method statements, incident logs/reports and job hazard analyses.
To review sub-contractor RAMS and provide assistance/guidance as requested.
To conduct investigations and report on accidents and near misses where required.
To assist with the co-ordination, registration and removal of hazardous waste.
In liaison with the SHEQ Team, to arrange SHEQ mandated testing and/or evaluations of the site by external agencies/consultants as needed.
To receive reports from and respond to inspections by sub-contractors.
To verify that all tools and equipment used at the site are adequate for purpose and safe for use.
To ensure that all health and safety documentation is present and displayed at office/site as appropriate, and to carry out site inspections to ensure it is a hazard-free environment.
To ensure that all staff are trained to the requisite level for their role with regard to Health & Safety at site, including conducting inductions, toolbox talks and emergency response drills as required.
To comply with all Health and Safety responsibilities commensurate with the role, as outlined in the Health and Safety policy
Any other duties commensurate with the position as may be assigned.

Desirable Qualifications:
„h A formal qualification in a relevant safety or environmental discipline
„h NEBOSH qualification in safety management
„h Membership of IOSH, the IQA, IEMA or other relevant institute/body/s
„h Membership of appropriate outside committees is desirable, but not essential
