To support learning in English, particularly at GCSE level, the school are keen to appoint a Graduate Learning Mentor with a degree in English. The role of a Graduate Learning Mentor is to support both whole classes and smaller groups (possibly ‘Gifted and Talented’ or those of lower ability) of pupils studying English and English Literature. Classes can be spread across the Key Stages and will include some work at AS and A2 level. Candidates are required to have a first class or upper second class degree in English or English Literature from a respected university.
Although not essential there will be preference given to those candidates who have previous or current experience supporting and working with young people.
My client Roman Catholic School is a secondary school located in Solihull. The school is open to pupils aged 11 to 18 years. It is one of the few secondary schools in the Dudley borough to include sixth form facilities, as most of the other sixth forms closed at the turn of the 1990s following the introduction of tertiary education across the area.
Despite its being a Catholic school, many of the school’s pupils are non-Catholics and include a diverse cohort of pupils. The school performs well in the local GCSE tables and is regularly among the highest performing schools in Solihull.
