Solihull MBC and Coventry City Council have a Shared Procurement Service and work closely with procurement in Warwickshire County Council. As well as category management responsibilities for all three authorities and the sub-region, our procurement teams work together for the benefit of the sub-region and to support front line service delivery to those people who use our services by providing an effective, efficient and value for money service. And now we have two fantastic opportunities to join us.
Strategic Category Manager
£40,057 - £49,583
Your challenge is to lead and motivate a team of Category Managers to support the delivery of the Council’s efficiency targets. As principal lead for identifying and managing continuous improvement for procurement activity, you will ensure that value for money is delivered through wise use of public money whilst maximising the benefit for our local community and economy. In this role you will also have responsibility as a Procurement Account Manager for a designated Directorate and will support the Leadership Team in all their procurement activities.
To make this outstanding opportunity yours, you will need to be CIPS qualified to advanced diploma level. Possessing excellent communication, planning and time management skills, your level of procurement commercial and contractual experience, skill and knowledge will match the requirements of the role and will have been gained across diverse entities within a large to medium organisation in either the public or the private sector. Working knowledge of public sector procurement processes, including public contract legislation would be useful too. Put simply, these opportunities will allow you to make the most of your procurement expertise, tenacity, drive and influencing skills and help shape and implement a strategy that will deliver important year on year savings.
