As Maintenance Engineer you will be working in a fast moving automated environment as part of a maintenance team, providing PPM, Breakdown and Continuous Improvement maintenance, plus occasional project work for machine improvements and new installations. The site is highly automated consisting of Conveyors, Packaging lines, Robotics, Automation and Control systems (SCADA and PLC’s).
Engineers will be involved with the complete Automation, connecting to SCADA PLC systems by laptop to force events, modify programmes i.e., change speed controls, etc.
Applications are invited from Maintenance Engineers with a strong Electrical background and good PLC, Controls and Automation skills, either apprentice trained or educated to HNC/ONC or City & Guilds Level with experience of the Food/FMCG/Distribution or an automated environment. Candidates are also to be familiar with some Mechanical theories and be able to fault find and repair.
This role is based on a rotating continental shift pattern of 12 hour days and nights.

The ideal engineer will be time served or hold a recognised electrical engineering qualification or electrical appreciation, and have experience of maintaining automated storage or materials handling equipment, such as conveyors or cranes. You must have a minimum 3 years Electrical/electronic experience within an engineering environment, experience of fault finding, electrical equipment, conveyors, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, stripping and refitting. An appreciation of PLC’s, preferably Siemens, would be highly beneficial with knowledge of Inverter Drives, ASI/Profibus systems advantageous.
The role will require you to work proactively and reactively at the site, responding to breakdowns, defining, planning and carrying out Planned & Preventative Maintenance (PPM) in allotted downtime. The role has a large variety of tasks and will suit an individual who enjoys autonomy and responsibility. In addition to the salary quoted there is overtime also available, but obviously not guaranteed and a benefits package.
