This reputable and continually developing membership organisation are looking for a Press and Media Officer for a maternity cover (to run until the end of February 2018), offering excellent benefits.

The role

As Press and Media Officer, you will be providing both press and media support and promotion for this membership organisation across the UK, and it is important to them that you are on board with their ethos and the work that they do. The role will see you developing and maintaining media and press relations, drafting press releases, statements, and brief materials, generating press coverage, supporting national campaigns with relevant media, promoting the organisation, attending conferences and events, arranging media events, monitoring press and media coverage, monitoring general sector developments, and contributing to and supporting the communications strategy.

What we're looking for

The ideal candidate will be qualified, ideally in a relevant subject and/or with a professional qualification, and must have experience researching and writing articles for a range of media, managing PR, and liaising with both local and national press. You will need to be adaptable and flexible, with excellent all-round communication, interpersonal, and networking skills; a confident and skilled writer, digitally savvy with experience using digital and social media in the context of this role, and a good deal of political awareness and sensitivity. The role will require knowledge of Microsoft office, the UK political landscape, digital media channels, and the organisation, its policies, and its objectives.
