HGV Driver (Apprenticeship Programme)

Apprentices (HGV Drivers) required by one of the UK’s market leading land fuel suppliers and globally renowned Fortune 500 company!

World Fuel Services’ UK land fuel business is recruiting HGV Driver (Apprenticeship Programme) roles across the UK in support of its ambitious UK growth plans and strategy to further increase market share.

Its vast UK wide depot network and logistics operation presents a number of opportunities for individuals wanting to develop a career in logistics and transport.

Drivers (HGV) are required to ensure the safe and timely distribution of Fuels and Lubricant products to B2B (commercial, industrial and agricultural) and B2C customers throughout the UK.

Key responsibilities can include but will not be limited to:

Driving

•The job holder is responsible for driving the company vehicle in a safe and courteous manner and in accordance with all current legislation and company guidelines.

•The job holder should be aware that they need to act as an ambassador for the company at all times.

•Responsibility should be taken to inform line management of any changes to driving license.

•The role holder is responsible for ensuring that to the best of their ability the vehicle is in a safe & legal condition.

•Report any accidents & incidents to line management.

•Use good judgement when dealing with difficult delivery conditions and always report back to line management details on unsafe sites as quickly as possible.

•Potentially working some nights away as necessary (2-3 per week) depending on the business’ needs.

Loading & Discharging

•Responsibility should be taken for loading & discharging in a safe and compliant manner and in accordance with company policy & procedures.

•Using a fork lift for loading (if required), training provided where necessary.

•Obtain Customer signature before commencement of delivery.

Customer Care

•Friendly and courteous behaviour should be displayed at all times

•Significant customer feedback should be delivered to line management.

The Individual

•The successful candidate will be educated to GCSE level or hold equivalent level qualifications

  • Transferable work experience in the areas of logistics or customer services is advantageous but not essential .

•Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK and be assigned to different UK geographies, as required by the business, to support spikes in volume

•Strong interest in logistics and a desire to initiate a career in logistics is essential.

•Clean UK driving license is essential.

•Strong collaboration skills are essential

•Strong attention to detail is essential.

•Strong written and oral communication skills are important.

•Strong knowledge and awareness of UK geography is essential.

•Strong IT knowledge and Microsoft Office experience is essential.

•Strong interpersonal skills and strong values and skills around customer services is essential .

•Desire to work within a fast paced environment and results driven approach is essential.
