Title: Hearing Care Assistant

We are recruiting on behalf of a very proven and successful mobile provider of hearing care and optical services. They are keen to employ the very best individuals, who have Audiology experience.
**You are required BSHAA Accreditation for this position, please enquire if you need clarification on what that is**
Hearing Care Assistants are an integral part of my client's Audiology team by delivering excellent patient focused service and supporting the HAD in the following tasks:
- Preliminary case history
- Audiometry (but not masking)
- Impression Taking
- First fit including REMs
- Basic repairs and fine tuning
- Rehabilitation and auditory training
Clinical tasks not suitable for an HCA
- Prescribing and Dispensing of Hearing Aids
HCAs are permitted to perform much of the role previously restricted to the HAD. The particular areas outside their scope of practice are masked audiometry and dispensing of hearing instruments. Once qualified, they operate under the indirect supervision of the HAD and it is therefore important that HCAs have clear guidelines to follow in carrying out their duties and that the HAD is aware of what they have undertaken on their behalf.
The origin of the patient i.e. NHS or Private has no bearing on the scope of practice of an HCA. HCAs are permitted to conduct all of the above clinical tasks for both types of customer.
- Fitting appointment (including Real Ear Measurements)
- Rehabilitation appointments, for patients experiencing difficulties
- Service appointments to recognise basic hearing aid faults
- Initial introductions and case history
- Maintenance of hearing instruments, including changing domes, tubes, windguards, waxguards, cleaning of aids, changing battery drawers
- Assist in training other staff

- Complies with all aspects of the Health and Safety at Work Etc Act 1974 and with the Company's current Health and Safety Policies
All successful candidates will be subject to satisfactory written references, medical clearance, and evidence of your right to work in the UK and Disclosure Certificate through the Disclosure and Barring Service (Formerly the CRB).
References: One of your referees must be your current line manager and all references must cover the previous five years work or study history.
