JOB TITLE: Technical Sales Manager - Water Industry

LOCATION: Midlands and surrounding areas

SALARY: up to GBP45k plus car (or car allowance), bonus, 25 days holiday, benefits

My client, who has a reputation for providing high quality products and service within the Water Sector is seeking a Technical Sales Manager/Project Pursuit Manager.

Ideally from a civil or mechanical engineering background, you will have:

  • A reasonable degree of technical sales ability
  • Be able to deal effectively with engineers
  • Be able to read engineering drawings
  • Have a positive input into project development and the selection of appropriate valves and fittings, that are fit for purpose

Detailed product knowledge is not necessary, as this will be provided.

This is a consultative, solution sales role.

You will be reporting to the Water Sales Director and will have six people reporting directly to you.

You will be managing early and proactive involvement with clients, consultants and contractors to propose an appropriate engineered solution across a range of water and waste water projects.

The successful candidate will identify key contacts and decision makers and co-ordinate involvement with opportunties to maximise revenue and profitability across a wide range of water industry projects.

You will make appropriate presentations to clients, contractors, specifiers and consultants on a range of products, including any new innovations and services, and offer technical guidance to ensure the best solution is developed and that all opportunities are correctly and thoroughly identified.

You will also be feeding relevant information back into the business to ensure that appropriate products are under consideration for development and production.

My client would be happy to consider a Civil/Mechanical engineer, with relevant experience of pipe systems and valves, who wishes to move into the sales environment, but with a hands-on technical input at the inception of major projects and selection of products to deliver the best solution.

My client would also consider a recent Mechanical Engineering Graduate who has a real desire to move into sales as opposed to taking up an engineering career in design or construction.
