Role Objective:
The role will have the responsibility for delivering financial accounting and reporting capabilities in the area of income and customer debt and ensuring new regulatory reporting guidelines are appropriately applied.

Key Accountabilities:
* To deliver financial accounting and reporting capability accurately within strict monthly closedown deadlines.
* Responsible for ensuring that the reported numbers (monthly, annual and OFWAT regulatory reporting) determined by the Income and Debt team are reasonable, accurate and consistent.
* Operate and manage the STW bad debt provisioning model.
* Liaise with external auditors and ensure clearance of any audit queries in respect of the Income and Debt team.
* Manage the accounting for billings and cash collections with other water companies. Manage the process of undertaking reconciliation of statements from other water companies with STW accounting records and preparation of statements for other water companies.
* Work on continuous improvements in processes and systems to support retail competition in the water industry, including accounting for transactions with the new Water Plus retail joint venture.
* Work closely with the #Customer Performance teams in preparing management information and periodic budget and forecast data.
* Work closely with the systems and data owners to continuously improve the financial systems used in delivering the reported numbers and ensure system changes are implemented successfully.
* Provide data for Statutory Accounts and Regulatory Returns required by OFWAT - monthly and annual basis.
* Supporting the production of monthly management packs for key stakeholders including first variance analysis relating to income and debtors.
* Attend the monthly Flash meeting and present relevant information.
* Manage and lead the income and debt team comprising of one direct report.
* Provide greater granularity to reported numbers to aid regulatory and management reporting
* Adhoc project work as required.
* Manage the treasury back office process.

Experience:
Essential
* Experience focused on financial control and accounting/regulatory requirements
* Experience of dealing with a high volume of complex transactions
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively with different teams/stakeholders
* Strong system skills Desirable
* Experience of SAP
* People management skills
* Knowledge of the Water industry

* Strong analytical, financial accounting and reporting skills
* Excellent communication skills around particularly complex issues
* Strong influencing skills together with ability to work across teams and with senior stakeholders
* A drive towards continual improvements in both systems and process
* Good planning and organisational skills
* Good working knowledge of Excel to at least intermediate level
