This relatively small secondary school in Birmingham are looking to take on two science graduates to work as Academic Mentors/Teaching Assistants, starting as soon as possible. The recruited graduates need to be specialists in one - or more - of the major sciences in order to provide the most relevant support to their pupils.
The school are ideally looking for graduates that plan to further themselves within the field of education, most likely as future science teachers. Working in the school's science department will give the recruited graduates the ideal opportunity to see, first hand, what's expected of and the daily demands of life in a school.
As a Teaching Assistant the school will utilise the skills and knowledge of the graduates in the department to work with pupils that need extra support and development, especially those studying their GCSEs. Do to the nature of schools and the differing needs of their pupils the school are looking for a TAs that are flexible and creative in their approach to teaching science.
Working as a Teaching Assistant will give the recruited graduates a huge step up the ladder when they come to start their teacher training as they will have developed skills in: lessons planning, behaviour management, subject knowledge, special educational needs and differentiation; all vital for a successful teaching career.
