Our client is an established family owned business and leading supplier to UK retailers and the food service and wholesale sectors, they specialise in the supply and delivery of fresh exotic fruit and speciality vegetables. They are a grower, importer and marketing business with a heritage in subtropical produce meaning that we can offer a diverse choice of employment opportunities to match your ambitions.

They are now looking to recruit a Process and Continuous Improvement Officer to join their team in Atherstone on Stour.

The Role
Drive continuous improvement by developing key metrics, analyzing, reporting and providing recommendations. Success will be measured by improving worker engagement, reducing customer complaints and making the site operational leaner in terms of reducing waste, enhancing yield and adding value.

  • Always understand commercial requirements.
  • Risk assess Intake QA reports for key products; analyse & report production data; make recommendations for change and improvement.
  • To manage root cause analysis of major issues, rejections and incidents.
  • Follow through agreed corrective actions and improved ways of working.
  • Develop metrics to enable reporting, analysis and review.
  • Work closely with Technical & Production to ensure specifications reflect what we are able to produce.
  • Work with Production to implement standard operating procedures and with Quality Assurance ensuring finished product mirrors quality standards expected by our customers.
  • Have a major focus on yield analysis and give away.
  • Review process capabilities from beginning to end of production to ensure lean manufacturing can be implemented consistently and sustainably.
  • Manage product launches from initial concept through to production. Needs to be involved in internal feasibility of newly and existing developed products before they are shown to customers.
  • Shelf life testing, internal communication of trial summaries, cost savings, process improvement, packaging and artwork sign off.
  • Focus on continuous improvement projects relating to operational effectiveness through equipment utilisation; space saving; one touch handling; technology and process reviews.

The Candidate
To be considered for the Process and Continuous Improvement Officer role, you need to pocess the following skills and attributes:

  • Qualified in Lean Manufacturing.
  • Lean six sigma green or black belt
  • Strong analytical qualifications and IT skills.
  • Ability to write technical reports and procedures.
  • Work experience within a technical / operational function within a food company, ideally fresh produce.
  • Proven problem solving analysis skills
  • At least two years of hands on experience in a similar FMCG role
  • Advanced abilities using the Microsoft package and all electronic data management systems- especially Prophet.
  • Strong communication skills developed from working directly within a demanding industry and business.
  • Reported into technical retail customers,
  • Fluent English – Both written & verbal.
  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret current technical legislation, professional journals, and customer technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, and internal and external customers.
  • Must be flexible to travel to other UK and international sites and suppliers.
  • A full UK driving license is required.
