I am recruiting for one of the fastest growing award winning businesses in the UK. They are looking for a procurement professional who has a technical background preferably from a manufacturing, automotive or engineering background. Having the ability to read technical drawings is an absolute must. This is a permanent position paying up to £38,000 per annum.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Provide material, capital (Vendor tooling), design and development and prototype estimates to support all new projects ensuring cost targets set with external suppliers provide value for money to meet design, cost, quality and launch deliverables
  • Cost estimates - by analysing how much a component 'should cost' to manufacture, estimate the material used, process time, overheads and profit. Estimate comparison versus quote and assist with supplier negotiations
  • Benchmarking - Compare similar components within the parts library and competitor products through a 'tear-down' exercise. Develop a component cost database for benchmark analysis
  • Quotation analysis - Receive Quotation Analysis Forms and analyse waste processes and opportunities
  • Value Stream Mapping - Map current and future state processes to drive down costs
  • Undertake visits to new and existing suppliers to maintain/develop strong relationships
  • Maintain excellent communications between Procurement, suppliers and other departments

Job Requirements (Experience, Knowledge, Education):

  • Experienced in a comparable role with strong sourcing experience in Asia and preferably Plastics & Electronics
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or with equivalent business experience. CIPS qualification is desirable
  • Good relevant industry experience or manufacturing process knowledge would be an advantage

  • Good mathematical skills
