Role objective
* The internal communications officer will support the Internal Comms Business Partner for their business unit on a wide range of communications campaigns and messaging.
* They will help deliver aspects of the IC plan for their unit.
* The role holder will monitor the delivery of key comms, measuring results and suggesting improvements going forward.
* They would have the ability to step in to key meetings and programmes to help cover for the IC Business Partner. * Working with the rest of the team they would help devise the right comms, through the right channels at the right time.
* The communications officer will work closely with the rest of the wider Communications team, to contribute and deliver our broader corporate comms strategy

Key Accountabilities
* Help deliver key aspects of the IC unit plan and ad-hoc BAU messaging too in support of the overall plan.
* Support on major programmes and campaigns and events for that unit as required - supporting on change programmes too.
* Write and prepare engaging, creative content
* Work closely with the wider communications team to ensure all activities are coordinated as part of the wider comms plan
* Work well with virtual/project type teams to help deliver the right engagement strategies.
* Engage with operational and management teams to make sure that communications land effectively
* Provide mechanisms to respond to communications issues raised by employees
* Help to measure and evaluate communication activities in the spirit of continuous improvement
* Support the business with clearly defined guidelines and templates to allow local delivery of engaging and effective communications.
* Be part of the Communications leadership team, delivering on corporate communications and engagement initiatives as well as Directorate focused material

In order to succeed in this role it is expected that you will have:
* Proven internal communications and engagement experience with experience of playing a role in change communications
* Experience in handling the design and delivery of engaging employee messaging and campaigns
* Proven experiencing of managing impactful events
* Ability to create effective communications to drive a best practise and continuous improvement culture
* Capable of managing a number of prioritues at any one time through good time management skills.
* Experience in partnering with the business at all levels and building internal and external relationships

* Strong writing skills
* Event management capabilities
* Good planning skills
* Strong interpersonal skills in managing and influencing key stakeholders
* First hand knowledge of a wide range of communications disciplines and best practice
* Sound working knowledge of a wide channel mix
* Good attention to detail and quality output
* Creative thinking and problem solving
* Self-motivated individual who enjoys and embraces challenge with a quality driven energetic approach
* Confident, articulate with excellent listening skills.

* The confidence to challenge the norm and be able to deal with conflict and competing agendas - and to work with key stakeholders at all levels of the business.

* Strong comms experience and a good understanding of how the business works
* Proven communications experience working in large organisations Desirable:
* Qualification from a recognised professional communications/marketing body
