The role of the Tactical Incident Response Team (TIRT) is to assist the Traffic Officer Service and Emergency Services to facilitate the expeditious traffic movement through the extents of the traffic management site on the network. In addition, the team will also make safe asset defects on the highway.

We are recruiting for a Traffic Management Operative to work within our Highways Maintenance team. You will be based on the Smart Motorways project M1 Jct 23a to 25. This contract will run to June 2018, with prospects to go on to other contracts after those works are complete.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 24/7 response service for the NCC
  • Act as the on road incident response function for Costain Galliford Try JV
  • Assist the Traffic Officer and Emergency Services with the expeditious movement of traffic within the site
  • Deliver the necessary operational expertise in the incident situation
  • Utilise effectively the airwave communication system
  • Keep other parties such as NCC RCC informed of the situation
  • Make safe any asset defects as appropriate

Skills and Experience:

  • Drivers Licence
  • CSCS card
  • Lantra NHSS 12A & B Operative qualification
  • Traffic Management experience
