Role description
We are currently looking for a Senior Web Developer to lead the development of applications, tools and journeys for Take on a key role in the design and definition of applications, mentoring others in the team. Leading virtual teams across major work streams this role plays a critical part in delivery of the applications and the operation of As a technical expert, you are required to influence the eCommerce architectural roadmap, informing the Development Manager and aiding in key decision making.

Responsible for ensuring that team output is produced to agreed development standards, that they are maintained and that there is consistency across the development environment. Using sound technical experience, lead the improvement of stability, performance, availability and functionality of, associated websites and Content Management Systems.
Co-ordinate and oversee delivery of assigned ‘back end’ developments for projects, BAU, continual improvements, maintenance and fixes. Communicate effectively with stakeholders across different aspects of the business.

Skills and experience

Experience of developing in multi-tiered enterprise websites and delivering change, including applications development, database design, environment architecture and infrastructure

Experience in web services and web technologies including ASP.NET MVC using C#, OO methodology, UML, n-tier architecture, current best practice software design patterns

Experience in distributed web development (multiple teams, different geographies, including external agencies).

Experience of Web Services and Service Oriented Architectures

Solid understanding of web specific technologies, standards and frameworks

Expertise in testing environments and strategies

Ability to deliver and review code to required standards, including .net & C# amongst others.

Ability to deal with internal and external stakeholders with management potential

Practical experience of Agile methodologies

Proactive, flexible, positive team worker, skilled at finding cooperative solutions in fast changing, deadline driven environment with frustrating dependencies

Exposure to SQL Server 2005/8

Highly organised, assertive, investigative.

Good written and verbal communication skills essential.

Good knowledge of associated compliance eg security and data protection

Understanding of Content Management Systems and their application. Advantageous

Process design skills for customer journey mapping and workflow, experience in appropriate tools Advantageous

Knowledge of moving from complex legacy systems to SAP (or similar) Advantageous

Commercial experience of hardware and infrastructure Advantageous

Relevant power utilities experience Advantageous
