We are currently recruiting for a Digital Technical Lead to join our ever growing team based in Solihull. The Digital Technical Lead is critical to the design and delivery of npower’s retail digital strategy roadmap by delivering and building all technical solutions at their stream or functional level to the highest of standards.

Role description
The Technical Lead is accountable for the development and technical delivery of project work, tools and journeys for npower.com. They take on a key role in the design and definition of projects and mentoring team members. To establish a technical vision with all Technical Leads in their peer group, Technical Coaches and Development Manager to ensure overall application architecture suitable fits the business problem, for now and for the future.

Leading a technical team to deliver against the major work streams this role plays a critical part in delivery of the projects. As a Technical Lead, you are expected to influence the architectural roadmap, development team processes and overall team improvements, informing the Technical Party, Technical Coaches and Development Manager and aiding in key decision making.
You will be part of a multi-disciplined SCRUM team consisting of experts in Digital Design, UI, UX, Development, Testing, Business Analysis, SAP and LRC with the technical ability to deliver across functional and business areas including Domestic, B2B, Mobile, Energy Services, Smart, Technical and Platform.
The Technical Lead will need to solve various technical challenges at a stream level drawing down on advice from the Technical Coach where necessary, by providing necessary architectural solution design solutions and support models from within the Digital Development function to enable the delivery of the Digital Strategy and associated commercial contribution.

Skills & Experience
Experience of developing enterprise applications and delivering change, including applications development, database design, environment architecture and infrastructure
Used web services (WEB API 2, WCF) and web technologies including ASP.NET, MVC2/3 using C#, OO methodology, UML, n-tier architecture, current best practice software design patterns
Experience in distributed web development (multiple teams, different geographies, including external agencies).
Organised, assertive, investigative.
Good written and verbal communication skills essential.
Solid understanding of web specific technologies, standards and frameworks
Experience of Service Oriented Architectures and REST
Ability to deliver and review code to required standards, including .net & C# amongst others.
Ability to deal with internal and external stakeholders with management potential
Good knowledge of associated compliance e.g. security and data protection
Proactive, flexible, positive team worker, skilled at finding cooperative solutions in fast changing, deadline driven environment with frustrating dependencies
Experience of moving from complex legacy systems to SAP (or similar) will be an advantage
Practical experience of working within AGILE and SCRUM.
