Electric Motor Design Principal Engineer '" Leamington '" £Competitive Salary DOE - Permanent

This is a great opportunity for an ambitious Electric Motor Design Engineer to work for an engineering consultancy specialising in the design, development and control of transmission systems and future drivelines.

As Motor Design Engineer you will lead the specification, design, control, development, test and benchmarking of electric machines & actuators, predominantly in the field of automotive powertrain electrification. Candidates will have prior experience of designing, developing and controlling a range of electric machine types, preferably gained in the automotive or aerospace sectors.

What you will do

As Electric Motor Design Engineer; - Lead the definition of system architectures and technical solutions to meet client requirements - Detailed electromagnetic & thermal design & optimisation of electric machines and actuators - Detailed knowledge of motor control strategy, simulation and software development. - Definition of electric machine manufacturing processes - Technical interfacing with internal and client teams - Guide mechanical development and integration of electric machines. - Dynamic simulation of electric drive systems including performance, losses etc. - Supervise build & testing of prototype electric machines - Management of client projects using internal and external resources to deliver a high standard within time & cost constraints

What you will need

As Electric Motor Design Engineer; - A degree (2:1 or above) or PhD in electric drives, electrical engineering or a related subject. - In-depth understanding of various electric drive technologies relevant to the automotive sector - Experience in the design and development of a range of electric machines and drives using electromagnetic and thermal design software packages such as MotorCAD, Infolytica MagNet, JMAG etc. - Experience in the design and development of motor control strategy and software. - Ability to lead and provide direction of a growing department across the entire product development lifecycle. - Be able to positively motivate the team working on a wide variety of electric machine & actuator design projects from low power actuators to high performance traction drives - Ability to interface with clients with a positive, inquisitive and value adding approach.
