Exciting new 12 month contract for a Human Resources Business Partner for my public sector client.

Principal Accountabilities:

Responsible for working with the business leaders to shape and influence the People Agenda, partnering with named senior business leaders to translate business priorities into HR activity which can be implemented by HR Operations and line managers.

The HRBP undertakes strategic HR activities (e.g. assessing people impact of change activities in the region, and analysing key business MI through a people lens), while working collaboratively with all HRBP's to ensure Business-wide alignment.

The HRBP are required to work proactively with business leaders and fellow HRBP's to ensure HR is delivered fairly and consistently to a high quality standard HR Business Partner

Areas of focus:

Leverage strong business knowledge and understanding to partner and provide strategic and insightful challenge to business leaders and the HR team on all people-related subjects as the primary contact for Business HR.

Broker solutions and challenge the business and HR as appropriate to drive customer-focused innovation within HR.

Coach and develop senior leaders on a number of business-wide initiatives, including cultural change programmes and engagement strategies.

Coordinate the deployment of HR skills and expertise from across the HR model to bring the right people solutions to the business they support.

Lead the business to assess, evaluate and develop the right skills in the right places across the business, facilitating strategies to fill gaps where needed.

Inspire business leaders to deliver HR transformation of their area, aligning ways of working to create a High performance people culture HR Strategy.

Partner with, consult with and influence the Senior Business Leaders on people needs to enable delivery of business targets (e.g. through driving the development of talent pipelines within their Regions).

Translate business strategy and requirements into HR plans, in line with the company's People strategy.

Champion the people strategy with the Region and ensure business strategies align, challenging as required to drive change.

Input to business strategy and organisation design to ensure that structures, roles and responsibilities, enable delivery and a high-performance culture.

Challenge business leaders in order to ensure integrated people strategy and fair people management.

Be a proactive participant on appropriate leadership teams, advising on people matters and educating business leaders on the value of HR, demonstrating that HR is a strategic partner to the business voicing key people concerns HR Governance.

Lead relevant HR related projects in the region working with members of the wider HR team (e.g. local roll out of a new policy or process) and Directorate HRBPs as appropriate.

Engage business leaders to advocate and demonstrate compliance with HR policy and champion interventions.

Hold business to account to deliver performance and people management challenging quality where needed.

Concentrate on strategic issues and complex and high-risk cases, considering risks and determining solutions and initiatives HR Policy & Process.

Adopt a highly strategic and proactive role (e.g. partnering the business to outline organisational objectives and coaching the business to ensure these are reflected throughout the performance management process) instead of an operational role (e.g. creating development plans)

Coach business leaders, drawing on expertise from CoEs and HR Operations, to ensure correct application and implementation of HR policy and process.

Evaluate and build business capability through facilitating talent management, succession and resource planning.

Challenge Line Managers to determine supply and demand in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the sourcing strategy.

Drive a high performance culture within the region (e.g. through Talent Reviews and identifying opportunities for talent development).


A bachelor's degree, preferably in HR, business administration, or a related field or commensurate professional experience

Professional body (e.g., CIPD, REC, etc.) member

Business Partnering experience working with individuals at a senior management level and with an understanding of regional and functional HR requirements

Demonstrated experience aligning HR strategy and services with business strategy a

Prior management / leadership experience in leading teams in HR

Project management and consulting experience

Private sector experience (Desirable)

£Excellent + 15% pension + flexible working hours!
