Looking to hear from individuals with proven product development, consumer insight and marketing skills and a passion for human nutrition.

The Position:

Based predominantly at our client's UK headquarters in the West Midlands but with occasional travel to ingredient suppliers, third party manufacturing sites, consumer shows, exhibitions and industry events, the appointed Product & Innovation Manager will assume responsibility for:

- Taking ownership of the development programme from concept through to launch, ensuring projects run smoothly and within time frames and costing specifications
- Managing the critical path process, researching and sourcing new ingredients for sports nutrition supplements and nutritional foods, ensuring ingredients and nutritional requirements conform to current legislation
- Managing end to end packaging development projects including artwork, ensuring thorough legal checks and sign off
- Owning the company's European product portfolio, making recommendations for rationalisation and expansion based on commercial insights, market opportunities and trends
- Continually evaluating market trends in products and packaging, monitoring customers and competitors then putting forward ideas and concepts that can be speedily brought to market
- Supporting the sales team by presenting new products and product concepts to customers across the UK and internationally

The Candidate:

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate:

- A minimum degree qualification in a scientific discipline such as food science, nutrition or biochemistry plus (ideally) CIM qualification
- A minimum of five years' product management and/or innovation experience, ideally within the food, sports nutrition and/or supplements sector
- A strong blend of technical innovation and marketing skills
- Good knowledge of human nutrition for athletic performance
- Confident and articulate communication skills to present to customers and major retailers
- A solid understanding of food manufacturing and the NPD process
- Familiarity with market research approaches and the undertaking of market and gap analysis
- Strong appreciation of consumer needs and insight
- An outgoing and friendly personality
- Good organisation and planning capabilities
- A track record of building supplier relationships
- A full and clean UK driving licence
