Cobham Antenna Systems are looking for a Senior Buyer - Projects and Programmes To provide Supply Chain Management expertise to the Cobham Antenna Systems Business to ensure better 'Make versus Buy' and subsequent supplier selection decision making when it comes to bids and New Product Development, in order to ensure Supplier Performance (Quality and Delivery) and cost targets for the business are achieved.

This role is based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire.

Our technology
At Cobham Antenna Systems, we design and manufacture active and passive avionics antennas and electronic control systems for military and civil communications, navigation and search and rescue applications. We pioneered frequency agile VHF tuneable antennas and continue to be a key supplier to major avionics companies. Our GPS anti-jam technology utilises state of the art DSP algorithms with an active antenna to eliminate both narrow-band and wide-band jamming signals. We have world leading technology in Ground Penetrating Radar and RF interference mitigation. Both military and civil users rely on our direction finding systems for search and rescue operations.

As a Senior Buyer - Projects and Programmes your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

- 5 years of experience working in a supply chain organisation.

- A degree in business, operations, supply chain, or related field.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Evidence of effective strategic thinking.

- Experiencing of influencing and/or negotiating at all levels.

- Experience of supplier relationship management.

- Ability to work to financial and time-sensitive constraints.

- Certification in Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) and or Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS)
Key Measures and Milestones:

- Compliant bids delivered to the customer on time to cost targets.

- Deliverables for NPI and bids provided by the supplier(s) on time to the programme/bid requirements.

- Viewed by key business stakeholders as a critical contributor to all NPI projects and bids.

- Satisfaction of Project Managers and Technical Leads regarding direct support provided by Senior Commodity Buyer and Commodity Manager.

- Positive Feedback from the Business Unit's Senior Management Team

As a Senior Buyer - Projects and Programmes your main responsibilities will involve:

- Work as part of programme IPTs, alongside other functional leads to support the development of new bids and products and shape the design of the supply chain solution whilst always considering the Total Cost of Acquisition.

- Work with the Commodity Manager to ensure that all NPI bid activity has Purchasing support.

- Develop, implement, promote and maintain global commodity strategies for the Antennas Business Unit.

- As part of the IPT/bid Team, ensure consideration is given to the Cobham manufacturing and business strategies, as well as Purchasing commodity strategies, in all sourcing decisions i.e. 'Make versus Buy'.

- Ensure regular communication with the broader business stakeholders to ensure visibility of the very latest thinking and sourcing strategy for all commodities.

- Provide updates to the Project/Technical teams regarding supplier performance.

- Work with the Purchasing Senior Buyers to ensure constant monitoring and reporting of the external market to ensure that the commodity strategies reflect the Antennas Business Unit's position within the market and identifies any potential risks to supply.

- Liaise regularly with Commodity Buyers to ensure all supplier issues are considered as part of any new bid opportunity or product development project.

- Work with the Purchasing Senior Buyers to network across the actual, and potential, supply market for all commodities to ensure opportunities and risks are identified, reported and managed.

- Prepare for and support all Supplier Strategic Business Reviews (SBRs) with the Antennas Business Unit's key suppliers, but ensuring all current and known future bids, and the suppliers' performance, is discussed during these reviews.

- Pull through design and manufacturing innovation and ideas from our supply chain to reduce cost, improve delivery and enhance product performance e.g. DFx, DTC
For new products, ensure cost models are developed as early as possible in the LCM process, supported by accurate supplier quotations e.g. run RFQs, cost estimates and support product development offerings.
