Cobham PLC are looking for a Director of Learning and Development to form part of the senior leadership within the organisation's Talent Management 'Centre of Excellence' and has been designed to contribute to our L&D (Learning and Development) strategy, architecture, execution and learning to support the needs of the business. (E.g. key capabilities, development of our high potentials in both technical and Leadership). The Director of L&D will work with the HRBP's to deploy Cobham's Talent strategy and deployment of talent frameworks which is a key enabler to our creating a culture of success.

This role will ensure that Cobham is aware of current approaches to L&D, and that where appropriate these are deployed across the Group. The post holder will ensure that Cobham is working with the best partners, academies and institutions to support the Functional Councils and Leadership Teams in driving excellence across the functions.
We are looking for talented individuals who have experience of operating at a stragetic level whilst also being repsonsble for the operational success of the L&D function. To be successful you will need to influence and educate the operational HR teams & functional managers to deliver the agreed strategy making this a senior but hands on role to deliver great talent outcomes for Cobham

This role is based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire.

As a Director of Learning and Development your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

- Track record of designing, developing and delivering training and development initiatives, in relation to customer service, core skills, management and leadership development

- Thorough knowledge of theory and best practice in Training and Development & Talent Management practices

- Track record as a L&D professional in a commercial organisation of a similar scale and diversity

- Educated to degree level or equivalent

- CIPD qualified preferably with specialism in Training and Development

- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills: able to build and develop good quality professional relationships at all levels

- Experience and understanding of NLP and learning style methodology

- Consultancy and diagnostic skills

As a Director of Learning and Development your main responsibilities will involve:

- Identifying business requirements for Learning & Development, support the design and development of Learning and Development frameworks

- Provide coaching and support to the HRBP's in the area of L and D

- Ensure frameworks are reflective of the skills requirements of the business.

- Manage some core corporate leadership development programmes and associated activities, including MBAs, management diplomas, professional qualifications, Business School learning solutions and development of High Potentials

- Advise on best practice, looking outside the organisation regularly benchmarking against best in class organisations.

- Manage the L&D budget and look for innovative approaches to learning and development that will drive cost effectiveness and competitive advantage, particularly in the area of e-learning

- Build effective and influential stakeholder relationships across the organisation allowing input into strategy

- As a key aspect of the Talent Strategy formulate, maintain, and communicate career paths and frameworks, policies, processes & tools

- Champion our Employer Brand, Employee Proposition, culture, values and People Strategy as part of the senior HR community

- Embed Cobham's culture of success by providing support to any appropriate employee engagement activities and related communications

- Be an advocate for Inclusivity ensuring equal access to training and equality of outcomes
