The role of a Body-in-White (BiW) Development Engineer will be responsible for project management of all BiW prototype panel manufacture, ensuring parts are delivered on time to the correct quality standard, Q loops and supporting company programme timing plans and objectives.
You'll play a key role in developing a BiW prototype strategy for all major panels within budget constraints, liaising with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling and Pressed Parts Group and Construction and Dimensional Management.
This role will require interfacing with BiW Working-Level Process Chain meetings, and you'll support driving the Bill Of Materials (BoM) generation and part-releasing profile against the VPP Timing Plan as well as reporting prototype quality and delivery status and establishing prototype budget costs. In addition, you'll communicate to Programme teams and be involved in obtaining, interrogating and negotiating quotes with the Project Engineer and Purchasing from external suppliers.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
You'll come to this role with previous experience in project management and delivery of the BiW prototype panel supply to support VP Build. It is likely you'll have worked within critical timing and programme objectives to meet deadlines as defined by the Programme team and the Company Cycle plan whilst applying your own initiative to progress and deliver BiW Components to quality expectations.
You'll be expected to draw on all necessary resources within PD, Purchasing, Finance, AME and the Programme team to achieve programme objectives and track and monitor progress against critical path timing. You should demonstrate detailed knowledge of BiW design, quality, tolerances and GD&T as well as an awareness of processes and procedures for programme Bill of Material. Additionally, you'll have knowledge of BiW pressing and assembly feasibility, prototype manufacturing and prototype part requisition methods.
Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you'll find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, membership of a competitive pension plan and a performance-related bonus scheme. All this and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey.
