12 month FTC
Salary: £26,000 up to £28,000

Job summary:

The Health Services Management Centre (HSMC) is one of the leading centres specialising in policy, development, education and research in health and social care services in the UK. HSMC's prime purpose is to strengthen the management and leadership of these services and to promote improved health and well-being.

The HSMC is part of a Consortium led by KPMG, and includes the Alliance Manchester
Business School who together are providing two leadership programmes commissioned by the NHS Leadership Academy.

Responsibility for the administrative support of the NHS leadership programmes is held by HSMC, overseen by the Executive Programme and Development Manager and the Programme Director.

Main duties:

Service Management Role

- Work effectively as part of a multi-functional team across collaborative organisations in the Consortium.
- To maintain excellent collaborative relationships with all stakeholders, both within the NHS Leadership Academy programmes and externally.
- Summarise complex operational issues/concepts and present them appropriately for a range of audiences.
- Ensure that both external and internal customers are provided with the highest levels of programme support and ensure there is effective communication amongst the Consortium and organisations on support and operational matters, including specific liaison with the Alliance Manchester Business School central systems.
- Act as the departmental contact for relevant, senior points in the School in relation to the Programme.
- Work closely with IT system provider for executive development activities to ensure promotion of operational effectiveness that aligns with the needs of NHSLA Programme, Consortia partners and organisations.
- To recommend and support the implementation of innovative solutions to improve service quality, efficiency and continuity and introduce long term, sustainable improvements.
- To identify areas of good practice to disseminate across the organisation.
- To identify business needs and solutions and make recommendations to the Executive Programme and Development Manager and Programme Directors.
- To provide timely and useful management information on the NHSLA Programmes.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience:

- Proven relevant administrative experience across a range of activities
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, or proven relevant equivalent experience
- Good IT skills
- Ability to work on own initiative, with minimal supervision, and to manage and prioritise a range of varied and complex tasks, completing them to the required deadlines
- Good interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels
- Good oral and written skills
- High level of diplomacy, tact and negotiating skills
- Conflict resolution skills
- Problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to deal with complex and/or difficult situations
- Enthusiastic approach to management and leadership
- Experience of managing and leading staff across a range of activities
- Attention to detail
- Ability to interpret, analyse and present information, and to formulate and implement clear proposals from that analysis which can inform the development of strategy
