A nursing care provider rated Outstanding for Care by the Care Quality Commission is currently seeking Care Assistants to join their Evening team. This role works as part of a wider care team to provide person centred care to individuals suffering from Dementia, enduring mental illness and associated challenging behaviour.

The Care Home has recently expanded and this in itself provides career development and job opportunities for employees within the service as well as prospective candidates. The service is unique in that they are a nursing care provider who solely cares for residents with Dementia and Mental Health conditions for older adults.

You will be working 16 hours per week based on a two-week rolling rota. Hours of work are 19.00 p.m.-23.00 p.m.

As a Care Assistant you will:

• Provide high quality person centred care in line with the individual resident’s care plan.
• Work to the Care Provider and industry regulations, including adhering to the Skills for Care Code of Conduct for Adult Social Care Workers.
• Assist residents with daily personal care, including bathing, dressing and any ongoing personal hygiene requirements as required.
• Work in a professional manner, in order to uphold our residents right to privacy and dignity; including protecting their individual care records, maintaining a private environment during personal care activities; and discussing care information on a need to know basis with people who are key to the individual resident’s care.
• Communicate and engage residents in a manner appropriate to their mental health needs and level of understanding.
• Work in the best interests of residents by supporting the choices of individuals in our care and raise any issues that may conflict with this to the Clinical Team Leader.
• Act as a Key Worker – liaising with family members and the resident’s named Nurse to ensure that our resident has appropriate clothing, footwear, toiletries and that disability aids are maintained (glasses, hearing aids, dentures etc).

The ideal care Assistant will have the following qualifications and experience:

• Applicants need to be 18 or older due to the nature of the role to provide personal care.
• Experience of working in a Mental Health or Challenging Behaviour setting would be advantageous.

If you do not have any previous experience in a Health and Social Care environment candidates will be accepted with functional skills in Maths and English, demonstrating the ability to work towards a Care Certificate.

Due to the nature of the role you will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring (DBS) Check.

The company are keen to invest in team members, Carers receive in-house training over their first 12 weeks of employment, marrying theoretical learning with the practical application of skills. Further training opportunities are available upon successful completion of probationary period.

In return the Care Assistant will receive a starting salary of £8.00 per hour rising to £8.25 after completion of probationary period.
