Senior Plant Accountant

Location:Coventry

greenwellgleeson is recruiting for a Senior Plant Accountant on permanent basis for a business based in Coventry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts within the Company reporting timetable, supporting the Group FC in this role with the ability to provide cover and Supervise others in the process

  • Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts with documented support evidence

  • Responsible to assist deliver timely, accurate and value-added management reporting / accounts and reconcile to annual statutory reporting requirements

  • Reviewing purchase, sales and nominal ledgers and ensuring the coding accuracy whilst maintaining the integrity of the accounting records and work with the Purchasing team to develop processes

  • Preparation and reconciliation of quarterly VAT returns for approval

  • Maintenance of the fixed asset register and finance schedules

  • Assisting with the preparation of cash flow forecasts, bi-monthly management information reports, budgets and schedules and other forecasting tools.

  • Investigating variances from budgets and forecasts whilst highlighting any trends to the Group Financial Controller

  • Develop control processes and identify areas for improvement with the Group Financial Controller and able to work across the Business functions; inclusive of Supply chain; MP&L & Manufacturing/Engineering Teams

  • Post costing analysis across investments and monthly project reporting; identifying key causes of variance

  • Understanding of stock flows and impacts on monthly cost of sales

  • Monthly revenue recognition and controls whilst matching cost of sales to month's sales; including sales invoicing

  • Review stock adjustments and report variances to Group Financial Controller

HEADLINE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

ESSENTIAL:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills; good grounding in accounting and use of MIS

  • Experienced user of Sage 200

  • Strong treasury control; use of banking systems and cash flow reporting

  • Qualified or Part qualified CIMA/ACCA within a manufacturing environment

  • Excellent MS-Office skills with a strong knowledge of Excel
