Job Description

The post will involve General Dental Practice Management and Administration Duties in support of the SDO. A full UK driving licence is desirable, as you may be required to travel to other local military establishments as directed by the SDO or PRINCIPAL DENTAL OFFICER (PDO).
It is desirable that you should have a working knowledge of Dental IT systems and have good computer literacy skills (TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED IN THE USE OF DDS PRACTICE MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE). Previous experience working with /in the DEFENCE DENTAL SERVICES would be beneficial.
You should hold a relevant recognised qualification in Dental Practice Management and/or have experience as the practice manager of a busy UK dental practice. Duties will include:

A) Ensuring protection of patients' confidentiality in accordance with the GDC's Principles of Patient Confidentiality document and DDS SOPs. Taking minutes at the periodic practice meetings;

B) The management and supervision of the appointment system. Management of dental records (manual and electronic) including the receipt, despatch and documentation of dental prosthetic appliances, ensuring timely appointments for patients as necessary;

C) Compiling and submitting dental returns and personnel occurrence reports in accordance with extant DDS policy. Co-ordination of T&S forms for staff travelling on DDS official business, ensuring forms are submitted to the PDO department for prior approval where required;

D) Responsibility for the receipt, despatch, classification and appropriate circulation of official correspondence, taking appropriate action as necessary;

E) Management and supervision of referrals to Specialists and Secondary Care facilities, liaising with patients to ensure appointments are attended and documentation is returned to the Dental Centre on completion of treatment;

F) Liaising with units to ensure periods of force generation are effectively managed to maximise the number of personnel who are dentally fit for deployment. Liaising with units to minimise failure to attend dental appointments
