Person Specification
You will be a Mathematics graduate or a graduate with a heavily based maths degree and hold either a 1st or 2:1 classification. As well as strong skills in mathematics you will require a genuine passion for passing on your knowledge to pupils in a secondary school right through to those studying at A Level. You will have the type of personality that pupils respond favourably to and be able to establish a good rapport with the students you support. Ideally, you'll be looking for a year's experience in a school as a Teaching Assistant before you enrol on a teacher training course, be that a PGCE or Edustaff's Premier Pathways Programme.

About the role
The school require additional support to their pupils in Mathematics across all three Key Stages. You will join the mathematics department that is led by one of the school's deputy head teachers as well as 7 teachers. During the academic year you will be tasked with running small intervention groups for gifted and talented pupils as well as those that find mathematics a difficult subject. There will be a strong focus on working with pupils that are on the C/D borderline at GCSE. If a candidate shows promise they will be asked to help develop pupils studying in the school's sixth form.

The School
Mathematics as well as science is a particular strength of the school and you will be hard pushed to find a school that performs as well at both GCSE and A Level. The school is located in central Birmingham. The school is housed in traditional buildings but it's approach to learning is far from old fashioned. Once inside the school candidates will find state of the art facilities and classrooms.

If you're a maths graduate and you feel you have the necessary skills and attitude to succeed in a Teaching Assistant role then please email a copy of your CV to Patrick at Edustaff.
