To include, but not limited to, the following:
Designing & developing new and/or improved building systems, from preparing proposed development brief, through concept design to production prototypes and product testing.
Maintaining continued compliance of building systems with statutory legislation including Building Regulations & Building Bulletins.
Ensuring that our client is up to date and aware of relevant new building legislation, new materials and processes.
Generating product cost data and appropriate cost comparisons with the help of the procurement and finance teams.
Working with the individual design teams to develop and approve appropriate design solutions for those elements of the project that fall outside the Companys building system standard details on a project by project basis
The ideal candidate is likely to have the following qualifications and experience:
If you have an engineering degree qualification, coupled with construction design manager experience with several years in this environment (or very similar role within a Main Contractor environment), or very recently graduated with First Class honours in an engineering discipline, please get in touch.
Anyone with an understanding of point loaded and line loaded structures and an understanding of different foundation types will be sought after.
Do you have:
An understanding of timber, light gauge and heavy gauge steelwork in structural elements?
An understanding of concrete/steel composite action?
An understanding of different structural types and connections?
The ability to fully calculate a building (and its foundation)s structural compliance and sign-off?
Solid understanding of whole building design including building services, environmental performance and building life/durability?
Competence in AutoCAD or Revit will be very useful in this role, as will an ability to use both structural applications such as Tekla Structures, Robot Structural Engineering and environmental dynamic simulation tools such as IES VE?
