Payroll Administrator (9 month Contract)

Job Summary
Accurately update and process the payroll system in a timely manner, ensuring that
colleagues are paid correctly and promptly, whilst adhering to strict deadlines and in
line with statutory legislation and Society procedures.
Provide a payroll administration service within the Group and to colleagues and
their managers throughout the Society, providing a high standard of customer service
in all areas. Take named responsibility for groups of colleagues developing effective
working relationships with senior managers within those groups.
However, occasionally situations may arise that require the post holder to perform
other duties or tasks as may be reasonably requested by the Society.
Key Responsibilities
The post holder shall:
* Working to strict deadlines to ensure payment to colleagues in a timely and
accurate manner.
* Processing of timesheets and T&A files - calculation of payments (e.g.: SSP,
holiday, maternity entitlement, etc) and input of relevant data.
* Processing of various tax information forms correctly (e.g.: P45s, P46s, P38s,
P6s, P9s).
* Processing starters, changes, leavers, bank details, pension information, tax
credits etc, accurately and in a timely manner.
* Ensure the accurate and timely processing of statutory returns.
* Provide business sensitive information relating to redundancy
calculations/outstanding holiday entitlements to those only entitled to receive it.
* Provide management information relating to, for example, late/unsuited time
sheets or overpayments/missing bank details to improve
processes/practices/procedures. Payroll Administrator,
* Support the training of colleagues in time sheet processes, practices and
procedures. To contributed to the updates of reference material that underpins
such activities.
* Provide management information to HR Advisers relating to sickness absence,
short term/long term, including the preparation of financial information relating to
termination on the grounds of ill health..
* Adhering to Statutory Legislation & Society Procedures.
* Having the knowledge and ability to deal with, understand and apply statutory
legislation (e.g.: SSP, SMP, PAYE) and being able to implement, understand,
and apply changes to statutory legislation.
* Having the knowledge and ability to deal with, understand and apply Society rules
and regulations (e.g.: sickness payments) and being able to implement,
understand and apply changes to Society rules and regulations (e.g.: annual pay
awards).
* Providing absence cover for other members of staff in the team - answering pay
queries.
* Be the jobholder will often be the first point of contact for colleagues and their
managers, with administration and general payroll queries, and will need to
provide a polite and efficient service to colleagues and managers.
