Is your dream to inspire young minds in English and English Literature as a secondary Teaching Assistant?

Are you passionate about writing and literacy?

Are you committed to a future in education and ideally looking to train as an English teacher?

***Solihull Secondary School
***Long term / term time position
***Starts ASAP
***Graduate Teaching Assistant
***Strong English Department and Head of Department
***£55-60 per day

My client school, based south of Solihull, is looking to recruit at least one and possibly two Graduate Teaching Assistants for their thriving English department. The positions will ideally start in September and October this year when the new academic year begins. The school is a relatively small, modern secondary school home to just over 900 pupils including a small sixth form.

The school, thanks in no part to the inspiring Headteacher, are particularly proud of their progressively improving results. Both 2012 GCSE and A Level results were records for the school and they expect continued improvements over the coming years. As the bar is set high they are looking for academically gifted graduates with a passion for English combined with a desire to learn what it’s like to work in a secondary school classroom.

The skills you will need to be successful as a teaching assistant, aside from a degree in English and a love of literature are a creative approach to learning, the ability to adapt your presentation to pupils’ of differing levels of attainment, flexibility, a strong and friendly personality and an inspiring nature that will generate real interest in any given subject or piece of written text.

You will be working with some fantastic teachers throughout the English department that will support you as you support them in the classroom. At times you will be working with the class a whole plus additional work in smaller groups possibly with SEN (special educational needs) pupils and also with gifted and talented students

This is a really great opportunity for English Graduates that are looking to pursue a career in teaching. If you’re committed, articulate and want to make a real impression on those that you support and help my client school would like to hear from you.
