Tradewind Social Care are looking for a Consultant Social Worker to join a busy Children's Service in the London Borough of Hackney.

To ensure a high quality and effective social work service to respond to the needs of children and their families in a timely manner and within statutory guidelines. To assess need, plan and deliver focussed intervention to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.

Main duties:
To undertake interviews, observations and gather information from children, families and other agencies. This information must be analysed, summarised and evaluated to provide a holistic assessment of a child's needs
To understand the context of child development, parenting capacity and family and environmental factors in which to establish the needs of an individual child
To assess and balance risk and proactive factors within a child protection framework
To provide written and verbal reports which are concise, informative and based on analysis of complex evidence
To work closely with therapists assigned to the social work unit and take advise in devising and implementing clinical interventions with children and interventions with children and their families in various settings including family homes
To review and reassess when necessary and be open to a change of view in response to new evidence

Essential skills and experience needed:
Knowledge of childcare legislation, statutory guidelines and the London Child Protection Procedures
Ability to write concise reports with excellent verbal communication skills
Knowledge and understanding of child development, parenting capacity, environmental factors and risk and protective factors
Ability to create a rapport and build relationships with children and parents/carers

Job requirements:
Applicants must hold a Social Work qualification (i.e. DipSW) with a valid HCPC registration
Must have a minimum of 3 years recent experience working within Children's Services
An enhanced DBS that is of satisfactory level is essential
