A.N. Wallis & Co Ltd are a leading UK based Designer, Manufacturer and Supplier of Lightning Protection and Power Earthing Products. Established in 1946, Wallis have grown steadily throughout our core markets of the UK, Middle East and South East Asia. We are in a phase of worldwide growth with an annual revenue of GBP29m.

As part of this growth, Wallis are looking for a talented Design Engineer to join the Company's Technical Services team. This team designs earth electrode and lightning protection systems for clients worldwide in varying industries such as Electrical Transmission and Distribution, Rail, Renewable Generation, Petrochemical, Nuclear etc.

Working out of our Nottingham office with a possibility of some international travel as required, your duties will ultimately include:-
• Taking design projects from enquiry to delivery.
• Completing Earth Electrode System Designs for HV Networks using CDEGS software
• Liaising with DNOs and Clients to gain the required fault level information etc
• Liaising with customers to develop existing and new relationships.
• Providing technical support to the rest of the Company.
• Preparation of Health & Safety documentation.
• Report & specification writing.
• Preparing and giving technical presentations to various audiences worldwide.
• Having delegated authority over and the mentoring of junior members of staff.
• Liaising with members of staff from other departments to ensure smooth deliver of design projects.
• Representing the Company on standard committees etc

Essential requirements
• Hold a recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering (HNC in Electrical Engineering or higher desirable)
• Be a member of the Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET) (Or be in a position to gain membership)
• Have a recognised Professional Registration, or be working toward professional registration.
• Be familiar with HV substations or systems.
• Be willing to travel worldwide for short duration visits to support the business.
• Have extensive knowledge of specifications and standards applicable to our industry.
• Be fully computer literate
• Hold a full UK driving license
• Be capable of passing a Network Rail Medical/Drugs & Alcohol screening
• Be completely conversant in spoken and written English
• Eligible to work and reside in the UK

Desirable requirements
• A working knowledge of CDEGS software
• Formerly worked in DNO/ICP/HV Contracting Industries
• CAD Draughting experience
