We are looking for a Transport Manager to join our Birmingham Supply Chain team.

The Transport Manager role is to ensure effective, efficient operation of all transport related tasks, ensuring compliance with VOSA, Ministry of Transport, &Traffic Commissioner. Ensure that the company stays up to date with any law changes relevant to your part of the business.Encourage staff to conform to the company’s policies and procedures relating to transport, referring to the Staff & Driver Handbook, relevant Procedure Logs and related documentation.

Duties include-

To understand and ensure team comply with all company and departmental rules, safe systems of work and quality procedures.To maintain effective communication links with both line manager, other shift managers and team by utilising all appropriate methods(IE:- Pre shift brefings, Tool box talks, Shift Brief documents etc..).Data entry (Fleet System & various other related systems)Processing insurance claimsOrganising servicing / maintenanceKeeping up to date with changes in transport law.Monitor vehicle tracking activities & reportEnsure compliance with VOSAAnnual driving licence checks taking place (outsourced)Arrange driver assessments annually & recordComplete staff driver declaration forms 6 monthlyAttending relevant transport seminars & eventsEnsuring company policies & procedures are enforced (with reference to driver handbook)To oversee the complete transport / logistic operation to plan the workload on a daily basis.To comply with all current transport legislationTo ensure all vehicle records are kept up to dateTo monitor fuel efficiency for fleetAbility to make day-to-day decisions in the absence of the Hub manager.To ensure all delivery drivers report for work wearing STS uniform and safety PPETo ensure all road traffic accidents are reported to the, Accident Management Company, HUB Manager and the Fleet OfficeTo ensure all defected vehicles are taken off road until repaired & show as VOR in FleetcheckEnsure that temporary staff are only used as a last resortand are fully briefed before leaving the premises and enteredonto FleetcheckRun schedules and drop orders are regularly reviewed to ensure maximum efficiency is achieved whilst service levels and van fill rates are improved or maintained.Goods are delivered accurately and that the risk of errors are minimised.To ensure all goods returned back to the premises are correctly checked in and documented.To monitor and control overtime to meet the needs of the business and process all payroll information in a timely manner.To ensure all departments are kept informed of any events that impact them.Physically assist in all aspects of the daily delivery operations.To monitor and action any issues on staff performance relating to attendance, attitude, safety, work accuracy and speed of work.To ensure return to work interviews are performedTo control annual holiday bookings ensuring business needs are met.To conduct investigations, disciplinary and note takingTo communicate to team members all team goals, any changes to procedures including instructions received from the Company's Senior Management or Directors.To ensure all staff are inducted in line with corporate and departmental induction processes.To ensure high levels of site security are maintained at all timesTo ensure the yard is kept tidy and free of litterAppraisals carried out on time and used to identify training needs and provide feedback to staffProficient in Training Modules:Training modules relevant to your role are allocated to you on the online training suite (SABA), these will need to be completed in the timescales given on the training system and successfully passed.(Additional modules can be taken above your job grade if the business needs require it or for succession planning)Looking for-
