An experienced Project Designer (AutoCad & Tekla) is required to join a well established building materials company based in Birmingham. You will have a good knowledge of the construction industry and building techniques and have a strong drive for results. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to join a very rewarding company with long term career prospects.

You must be fully Tekla proficient to be considered for this role.

Monday - Thursday 08.15 - 16.45 and 08.15 - 16.00 Friday

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for producing designs and detail drawings for architectural metalwork on large, prestigious construction projects

Carry out design / detailing to an advanced level utilising AutoCad and Tekla

Assist the Estimators and Engineers in preparing quotation documents

Have in depth knowledge of building physics relevant to market sectors to ensure technical liaison with Architects, Engineers, contractors and approved installers on all design technical issues

Design review meeting with Project Managers to review the specification, tender drawings, site surveys & connection calculations

Managing construction projects and working to tight deadlines

Communicate with clients and the design team as required to keep them updated with all decision making throughout the whole process

Take responsibility and ownership for the deadlines set by both yourself and your Line Manager

Able to work to company's procedure and ensure the flow of information and document controlling is maintained to high level

Skills & Experience



Must have knowledge of the construction industry

A construction related qualification is required

Be able to demonstrate your skills and working knowledge in using 2D & 3D AutoCad and Tekla

Must be able to read and interpret Engineers and Architect's drawings and deliver the information from structural steel specification into the fabrication drawing

Have the ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative to ensure every project is a success

Ability to work under pressure and manage a number of projects at any given time by prioritising workload based on site dates and production needs

Strong ability to complete structural drawings accurately and proficiently

Be strong communicator able to influence decision makers

Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
