Building Services Maintenance Technician
The Business Join us as a Building Services Maintenance Technician in Staffordshire It's an opportunity to work as part of an exciting team with a broad knowledge range and excellent career potential, while you develop new and existing skills to a high level You'll maintain, operate and respond to equipment issues related to the electrical and mechanical services and equipment which support a large Data Centre facility You'll offer 24/7 shift cover providing a technical presence on site to respond immediately to any equipment issues, alongside carrying out preventive maintenance tasks on mechanical & electrical (M&E) equipment You’ll maintain the site health & safety (H&S) policy, operate a permit to work system and be able to supervise contractorsWhat you'll doDelivering and scheduling planned preventative maintenance, you'll make sure maintenance is carried out in line with H&S requirements using a permit to work system. You'll apply a risk focused maintenance approach and operation of all data centre M&E plant. You'll provide a 24/7 emergency response to plant issues, including escalating emergencies or service outages which could affect service level agreements (SLA) and completing electronic records and logs to show all maintenance tasks have been delivered. You'll supervise contractors and assist with delivery of site wide M&E projects. Your role will also involve: Providing regular status updates including appropriate escalation of incident reporting, and timely escalation of issues to the manager Utilising and populating the maintenance management system to record details of asset faults and remedial activities Taking ownership of maintenance tasks through to a timely completion Supervising and controlling contractor activity on site, ensuring working methods are safe and will not impact the business operations, and obtaining site reports Creating emergency operation procedures for critical system intervention when requestedThe skills you'll needTo succeed in this role, you'll have a HNC or equivalent qualification, and relevant experience in an engineering discipline such as electrical or mechanical engineering. You'll have strong problem solving skills and the ability to analyse information, and carry out plant fault diagnostics to assist in the recovery of building services failures. You’ll have previous experience of working in a large M&E facility. You'll also demonstrate: Thorough understanding of H&S legislation in a building services environment and suitable experience with managing contractors and a permit to work system Thorough understanding of facilities engineering equipment’s such as HV and LV electrical equipment, building management systems, standby power equipment, HVAC, refrigeration, and fire alarm and extinguishing systems Team working skills Experience of shift working in a multi-disciplined environment The ability to support the development of others through coaching Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsHow we'll reward youIn return, we offer a competitive salary plus 25% cash and benefit funding programme that can be tailored to suit your individual needs.
