Senior Chartered Structural Engineer - Midlands - GBPTBC

Our client is a leading company that operate in a number of different sectors. This particular role is working in the division that covers engineering and design and specialises in complex process, infrastructure and built environments.

Key objectives

Manage and deliver design packages to cost, schedule and quality criteria
Produce and check design calculations to appropriate standards
Manage small teams producing design calculations and drawings
Provide operational support to Principal and Associate Engineers
Ensure compliance with business quality & management systems
Implement change as directed by the Associate Engineer and Associate Director

Principal responsibilities and accountabilities

Team

Day-to-day management of small C&S project team
Contribute to wider development of C&S department capabilities
Task

Lead C&S design delivery across single projects or part of larger projects in single- or multi- discipline teams
Implement 'Perfect Delivery'
Report on project performance to Associate or Senior Engineer
Tender preparation for projects of all sizes, including fee estimates
Have detailed technical knowledge of civil and structural design methods and standards
Be open to and encourage innovation and sustainability
People

Mentor, train and develop junior engineers
Support individuals to maximise performance

Qualifications and training

Chartered Civil/ Structural Engineer CEng MICE/ MIStructE
Appropriate depth and breadth of experience
CSCS Card
Full Clean Current UK Driving Licence

Technical skills and experience

Detailed knowledge of current C&S design codes & standards
Must have previous National Grid substation experience
Experienced in discharging responsibilities under CDM Regulations and Health and Safety legislation
Experience and knowledge of broad range of civil and structural design, including:
o Drainage

o Foundation design

o Earthworks and site investigations

o Minor road and bridge design

o Building structures

o Specialist knowledge and sector expertise in high voltage substations and civil engineering elements associated with Transmission and Distribution networks

Experience of project delivery within some of the sectors we operate within, particularly power
Familiar with relevant technical standards and assurance processes, including National Grid Technical Specifications (NGTS) and Transmission Procedures (TP188, TP500, TP135 etc.)
Proven ability to work within a fully integrated, multi-discipline design team
