There is an immediate opportunity for an experienced Engineering manager to join a leading automotive manufacturing facility in Redditch, Worcestershire. Our client is globally recognised as a leading automotive supplier with sites based around the world.

The role will hold responsibility for the various functions including maintenance, project management, engineering change & manufacturing/assembly. The successful candidate will increase productivity whilst maintaining high standards of product quality and housekeeping standards, by effectively and proactively leading and organising maintenance labour and activity.

This is a key role within with operations team and will ideally suit a time served engineer who has proven supervisory experience within a manufacturing / automotive environment or a senior engineer who is looking to utilise strong knowledge and ability from previous roles to move into a managerial role.

As an Engineering Manager your duties will include:
  • Managing projects in a cost effective and timely manner whilst ensuring health & safety requirements are adhered too.
  • Providing overall Technical solutions 'problem solving' to the day to day issues
  • Constantly looking to improve processes efficiency through 5s standards
  • Support new program
  • Provide financial control over maintenance & tool room budgets
  • Oversee & maintain main factory layout updates

Candidate must have:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of primary manufacturing processes & assembly methods
  • Knowledge of recognised automotive documentation & processes
  • A relevant engineering qualification or time served apprenticeship
  • Proven experience in a senior / supervisory engineering role
  • Ability to plan / deploy resources to carry out planned and reactive maintenance works
  • Experience of industrial manufacturing plant and ancillary processes / site services
  • Ability to drive improvements
  • Strong knowledge of TPM, Continuous Improvement and Lean Principles
  • Ability to manage key metrics and budgets
  • Effective communication skills
  • PC literacy

In addition the following skills / experiences would prove advantageous but are not essential:
  • Knowledge and experience of SAP
  • Experience of developing maintenance routines.
  • A recognised Health and Safety qualification

The position will report directly into the Plant Manager and will allow the successful candidate to demonstrate their ability to lead a structured and disciplined Engineering function
