We are looking for someone to develop our Mechanical Engineering capabilities to utilise our automated equipment to its fullest extent

The post holder is responsible for ensuring the engineering teams across all manufacturing areas are supporting the business in meeting its Quality, Delivery and Cost Improvement targets though effective trained staff

To manage in accordance with Company policy all aspects of resource planning for the engineering teams ensuring production equipment is available to meet scheduled production plans across the business. Driving the production engineers to ensure that products are manufactured in a high Quality manner.

The Engineering manager has OWNERSHIP for all production equipment including lab based analyzers and processing equipment and is RESPONSIBLE for proactively challenging output and results through analysis of equipment reports, Quality metrics data, and will drive the process/equipment improvements being the key instigators and leads for Continuous Improvement Project (CIP) activities. They will be champion for improvements in Quality and productivity through strategic thinking to drive to be World Class. The incumbent will be required to ensure all personnel & Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) activities are met

Principal Duties and Responsibilities·To manage the engineering teams focusing on a proactive approach towards manufacturing, to minimize the potential down time of equipment used

·Drive effective problem solving activities and Root Cause Investigations (RCI) to address issues identified within production and to ensure actions have clear owners and deliverables are identified to drive long term resolutions.

·To maintain an effective relationship with all supporting groups consistent with meeting overall manufacturing goals.

·To drive a culture of Continuous Improvement and lead as a Change Agent within the department to contribute towards; improving the Quality Standards, Increasing output through improving production utilisation & efficiency (people & equipment) and reducing year-on-year product cost movements. This is to be done by ensuring all staff are actively encourage to identify improvement opportunities and ensure activities are resourced, managed and driven to successful completion.

·To support any audits performed within the areas either by internal or external bodies and to identify areas requiring improvement to ensure the department is fully compliant to the Quality System requirements and addressing issues identified as necessary

·To address any CAPA’s assigned to the department and ensure effective completion of the various gates within the required timeframes

·To ensure that all necessary Maintenance & Calibration (M&C) activities are completed compliantly and on time to have equipment available when required

·To comply with and support the Health, Safety and Environment statements, policies and procedures as well as ensuring that all H&S audits are carried out accordingly as well as annual assessments. To investigate any EHS incident raised within the area to drive to a Zero Harm culture within the department.


·Degree in Mechanical or Automation engineering or similar

·Extensive experience in a management role within either engineering or manufacturing

·Engineering or manufacturing background within an automated processing environment

·Extensive experience in a management role within either engineering or manufacturing

·Previous experience of working in a Quality System Environment – preferably within IVD medical Devices or similar

·Experience in a Continuous Improvement environment to drive change

·Project management skills

·Good organizational skills

·Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

·Excellent negotiation skills (when working with others)

·Problem Solving to support Root Cause Investigations

·Good analytical skills

·Computer literacy- Word, Excel, Office

·Time management


·Degree in management / leadership i.e. MBA

·IVD industry
