This company is a group of toolmaking, plastic injection moulding businesses in the Midlands. They are looking to hire a Wire Eroder for their busy toolroom in Cannock. The toolroom specialises in precision components supplied to short lead-times, primarily for the automotive industry. The Cannock toolroom currently employs four toolmakers who manage their own workload, to a busy schedule. Overtime requirements are determined and managed by the toolroom manager, in order to offer a first-rate service to their customers. There is no clocking-in or -out; toolmakers are expected to work as an autonomous team focussing on delivering an excellent service to internal and external customers - whatever it takes. In this role you will utilise all relevant toolroom skills necessary to produce the work required, to the highest standards possible. Key duties include; - Toolmaking including EDM (wire & spark erosion) - Accurately measuring & checking parts - Ensure Company Health & Safety policies and procedures are adhered to - Maintain a clean, efficient and safe work place in accordance with 5S protocols - Assist Toolroom Manager with Planning if required - Assist others in performing assembly functions on tooling when required - Accurate completion of quotation & production records - Suggest and implement continuous improvements Requirements: You will need to be an experienced toolmaker, including experience in precision punches and dies, wiring, grinding, and EDM (wire & spark erosion). You will also have excellent attention to detail, with a logical and methodical approach to work and be experienced at working to close tolerances. Ability to write your own programmes using Easycam and Visi systems. Experience on Sodick maching preferable. Together with the above Toolroom experience, the successful candidate will display initiative and a pro-active can-do attitude, will have commercial acumen for job costings, purchasing of materials and consumables within budget. Experience of working in a plastic injection-moulding environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
