Your role with us

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified teacher to join our adult education team working on the Birmingham site. The adult education team provides learning opportunities to adult service users in literacy, numeracy, ICT, employability and vocational skills.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and creative teacher to help develop assessment and teaching programmes for adults with a range of mental health problems and who may present with challenging behaviours. Applicants will possess knowledge of teaching literacy, numeracy and ICT skills from Entry Level 1 to Level 2 as well as supporting our clients with employability skills. We also offer a range of vocational opportunities which applicants will need to support through to accreditation.

The successful applicant will manage a small team of two full time education instructors as part of their role.

You will:

- Provide teaching in literacy, numeracy and information technology.
- Teach one to one where required but mainly in small groups of up to 6
- Manage a small team of two Education Assistants
- Manage your teaching environment and resources
- Teach employability skills
- Support and accredit a range of vocational skills and opportunities in conjunction with the wider professional teams
- Manage accreditation through West Midlands Open College Network

There is a strong emphasis placed on inter-disciplinary working alongside a team of skilled and committed professionals who are dedicated to providing an integrated educational and therapeutic programme.

Applications are invited from qualified teachers in mainstream schools, special schools, further education, adult education and/or secure settings. We are seeking someone with the motivation to develop the specialist skills demanded of this post.
