Job role: Purchasing Administrator

Salary: £25000k- £28000k

Job Type: Permanent

Hours of work: 8:30am - 16:30pm with half an hours lunch

Location: Birmingham

Job Overview of Purchasing Administrator:

Our client, a well established reputable global company are looking for an experienced Purchasing administrator to join the team here at their office in Birmingham. As a Purchasing Administrator, you will work collaboratively engaging with stakeholders, including inter company peers, and suppliers regarding projects, supplies and initiatives.

You will be expected and able to build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and ensure good communications are kept to built rapport with clients. You will need to be confident and assertive in the products you are representing, knowledge and MRP understanding is highly beneficial.

The key responsibilities of a Purchasing Administrator:

The administration of MRP, place orders with suppliers, chase delivery of goods to ensure on time supply to production processes.

To participate in efforts to reduce purchasing costs and improve terms of business with suppliers

The key skills of a Purchasing Administrator:

  • Please only apply if you are familiar with SAP or used the system previously
  • Comfortable with MRP
  • Ability to "read" the market, analyse macro-level information and assess opportunities and risks
  • Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Analytical, numerically astute with strong proven problem solving abilities

The ideal Purchasing Administrator will be:

Our client is looking for a bubbly, on the ball friendly and hands on individual who is able to use their initiative, friendly and great at building rapport with clients. Ideally a strong minded candidate who can come in and hit the ground running.

Main Duties of a Purchasing Administrator:

  • Ordering of necessary goods and services
  • Follow up purchase orders to ensure on time delivery and expediting late/urgent deliveries.
  • Administer and run MRP process. Make sure data within SAP system is set correctly and maintained.
  • Administer supplier corrective action requests.
  • Implement global and regional sourcing strategies
  • Discover lower cost sources of supply and initiate business and organization partnerships
  • Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms (lead times, payment terms etc)
  • Examine and test existing contracts
  • Track and report key functional metrics.
  • Collaborate with key persons to ensure materials are purchased to suitable specifications and obtaining any other required documentation.
  • Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
  • Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise others of any impact
  • Attend meetings and update others on issues or concerns, in particular when there is a risk which could prevent the organisation meeting customer demands or where there are over capacity concerns
  • Sourcing new materials to support product change requests. Review and communicate the impact on capacity plans
