ASAN exists to promote the well being of the people and business in All Saints. All Saints is a highly diverse and cohesive community close to the centre of Wolverhampton. As well as being a great place All Saints is notable for

  • A large transient community with many families for whom English is a second language
  • Large areas of post industrial dereliction
  • Major new redevelopment principally housing led
  • Red light activity
  • Low income levels

ASAN has aspirations to improve the quality of life and the economic prospects of people who live and work in our area in the following 5 key areas

  • To work with local people to establish community managed services
  • To work towards a sustainable approach to the organisation’s activities
  • To provide a route to employment through training, the development of skills and building local capacity
  • To become financially self-sustaining through the development of physical assets and social enterprise
  • To develop and manage the organisation effectively

We are a well established social enterprise, at an exciting stage of our development with a lot of opportunities. Successful businesses include an early years nursery, conferencing, business workspaces and a new wood recycling project.

We have a strong senior management team who manage our current business but although financially stable we do not currently have the resources for a Chief Executive and development function.

We are therefore seeking a part time (.4 FTE) Chief Officer who will:

Have a track record of success at a senior level relevant to one or more of the 5 key areas set out above and

  • Have demonstrable experience of developing and supporting managers using a coaching or mentoring approach. Lead the team helping them develop successful businesses
  • Work with the board to enable ASAN to prosper and ensure it meets is legal and financial obligations
  • Have experience of effective external representation and negotiation
  • Have demonstrable experience of successful work with a community governance body or similar
  • Ensure ASAN's work is well resourced, including some bid writing
  • Ensure ASAN continues to engage with and benefit the community of All Saints.

The chief officer will have a strong background in leadership, but we do not anticipate the chief officer being involved in significant operational management of the individual businesses.
