Senior Group Leader

A Senior Group Leader / Production Shift Manager is required to work with a globally recognised tier 1 automotive manufacturer producing circa 1m products per annum for several high calibre OEM's to provide focus and leadership for Production and development activities within the defined Focus Factory, as well as develop world-class levels of performance and customer satisfaction through use of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques and by promoting effective team working.


As a Senior Group Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Group Leaders/Team Leaders on shift ensuring system and process compliance.

- Assume responsibility for all EHS issues, adopting a zero-tolerance approach to quality and Health & Safety issues whilst delivering continually improving performance in the most cost- effective way.
- Ensure that all customer quality expectations (performance metrics) are understood and achieved
- Promote and apply continuous improvement tools and techniques with a strive to improve operational costs
- To support the launch of new projects, including approving and receiving them into mass production
- To ensure that the Focus Factory achieves prescribed OEE targets
- To be responsible for the daily management of the shift within the Focus Factory, including;

o Achievement of product quality standards.

o Leading Production Meetings

o Ensuring fast and effective problem resolution

o Interacting with supporting functions

o Prioritisation of maintenance tasks

o Production cells are running to process

- To consistently monitor the performance levels of all Group Leaders/Team Leaders, identifying and implementing training and development
- Create a positive working environment to retain employees
- To effectively utilise labour, materials, plant and equipment to maintain manufacturing costs within controlled budgetary parameters.


- Good level of numeracy
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Minimum of 3 years' experience working in an operational role in a fast-moving production environment.
- A working knowledge of continuous improvement tools and techniques
- Formal leadership qualification up to ILM level 5 or equivalent form of education (ideal)
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Determination to improve and ability to manage change
- Results orientated, self-motivated, lots of drive and initiative
- Ability to cope with multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-moving environment
- Previous application of problem solving tools and techniques
- Flexible to adapt to different working patterns and business demands
- Data driven and PC literate.
